Sarsur & Séder is a newly created company for consultancy in real estate laws and taxes. They provide a very specialized service to help their customers to have the highest security and lowest taxes possible, when you are comercializing real estate propoerties.

For the logo, my client asked me for something sober, yet modern. He asked me to give it a tiny girly touch, since there are women at the company too. And of course, I’d never do an uber designish logo for a lawyer office, cause it just doesn’t fit. Working only with type, seemed to me as the best option, and the result was quite nice. Here follows 2 options for the card. I hope you liked it.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Pink Floyd. I like all the songs and the covers are amazing. With crazy psychodelic images, and strange type, I’ve always amused myself with their graphic material. Later on, after I started studying graphic design I researched the interwebs and found out that all their covers, books, posters, etc. have been deisgned by the same guy, Storm Thorgerson. He have always been a friend of the band, and did all their artwork. He have always been a member of the British graphic art group Hipgnosis and his studio, known as Storm Studios does mostly album covers, and music related material, but he also does other stuff, like videos, websites, logos and documentaries. His website is non-conventional and worth a visit. Everything in his work is affected by a surreal aura, with objects placed out of their conventional places, and photography is the most used tool to communicate. He has been working with some great musicians like Bruce Dickinson, Younger Brother, The Cranberries, Shpongle, etc. without mentioning the great Pink Floyd and the solo albuns from Pink Floyd members. UPDATE: Wow, I really like this kind of online discussion, and all. BrandNew made a very nice post showing how image is false. I do agree that the image is false, but I disagree that the Coca-Cola logo has changed that much, since all the logos posted are roughly alike, and the change between them are essentialy applications of the same logo.

Pepsi has drastically changed their logo 6 times over the period illustrated.  Coca-Cola has done it twice, over a slighter longer period. If you look at BrandNews image, you can see that in the early 1900’s there was the first and big change in Coca-Cola logo. On that second logo, we already have a rough of the actual logo. Of course we had inumerous drawing corrections along the years, since most of those logos were created by hand, and the precision of logo crafting nowaday is something that didn’t existed 20 year ago. But the concept and main line of the logo is present since early 1900’s.

It’s a company that focuses on spreading information to the brazilian people in a very deep layer of society. A great issue in mass communication in Brazil is that we have a huge territory, big population and people that live in very remote places. Usually these people are poor, and have little to zero access to technology. A not so small part of our population is still living in the radio era. So, this company business is to spread the important info from their clients ( public and private clients ) to the population. They send most of the info via email and fax, to the more “civilized” parts of the country, but when it comes to the remote areas, they have a huge network of partners in every city of the country, that they can call them by phone, and that partner will spread the info to their community. It’s an amazing idea, and a work for the good. And it was great to be able to craft their new logo. One of the owners told me she wanted to keep a circle of people from the old logo. I wanted to craft a modern logo for them, that carried the idea of an octopus, or something with tentacles, but I also needed the people.

After some research over the internet I found a picture that showed me the form I was looking for. I had to vector it, and tweak it out little to enhance the characteristics that I needed. That’s my final version.

One amazing thing I noticed after showing this logo to some people, right before it’s approval, is that men can decode the logo faster than women. Even eye-trained women, such as my mother ( married to a designer for 25 years ), she took a little time to unveil the beauty of it.

This is the briefing I got from him:

“My logo looks old. It was designed in Times New Roman. But I do like that typeface, I want the new logo to be in Times too. Can you do it?”

That was my challenge. I do like Times, it’s a very nice typeface, but taking out all the other thousands of font I have at my disposal is just mean. But I liked the challenge, and came up with this logo.
